Dr. Heather Lynn – The Anunnaki Connection: Sumerian Gods, Alien DNA & The Fate of Humanity

Regular listeners to Destination Unlimited have heard me discuss my childhood in the 1950’s and 60’s and my fascination with both science and spirituality. When I was thirteen, an uncle, who was also a mystic, gave me a copy of a book entitled, Worlds in Collision. Written by independent scholar and psychoanalyst, Immanuel Velikovsky, the book, based upon comparative mythology, postulated that around 1500 BCE the planet that we know as Venus was ejected from Jupiter as a comet like object. Transiting close to Earth, he speculated that it affected our world’s axis and orbit, resulting in the catastrophes documented in early mythologies and religions. His thesis was rejected by the scientific community but led to a fascination with what actually happened that caused disparate cultures from around the world to share stories with common themes.

In 1976, Zecharia Sitchin published a book entitled The 12th Planet, the first in a series of books sharing his thesis that human origins were the result of “ancient astronauts” visiting the earth. He attributed the creation of the ancient Sumerian culture to the Anunnaki, a race of extraterrestrials from a planet beyond Neptune called Nibiru. His work was based upon interpretations of Sumerian texts and also comparative mythology. His work was also criticized by main street science, especially astronomers, until his death in 2010. In 2016, The American Astronomical Society published a study in its journal that there may just be a distant “giant” planet in the Kuiper Belt that would make it the ninth planet. Could this correspond with the planet in Sitchin’s theory? Might there be some truth in his thesis that would explain the similarities in ancient myths?
