My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, New York Times #1 bestselling author of Care of the Soul, Thomas Moore, has shared this idea in his work and teaching. He has written twenty-four other books about bringing soul to personal life and culture, deepening spirituality, humanizing medicine, finding meaningful work, imagining sexuality with soul, and doing religion in a fresh way. In his youth he was a monk and studied music composition. He has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Syracuse University and has been practicing depth psychotherapy for thirty-five years. He lectures and gives workshops in several countries on depth spirituality, soulful medicine, and psychotherapy— influenced mainly by C. G. Jung and James Hillman. In his work Thomas often brings together spirituality, mythology, depth psychology and the arts, emphasizing the importance of images and imagination. He often travels and lectures, hoping to help create a more soulful society. Thomas regularly appears on television and radio, including Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday and On Being. He lives in New England with his wife, the artist Joan Hanley. His website is https://thomasmooresoul.com/ and he joins me this week to share his latest book, Soul Therapy: The Art and Craft of Caring Conversations.
