If I tell you that Karen Sperling grew up in Hollywood, a scion of one of the most famous families in the film industry, you’ll begin to understand why talent and creativity are as integral to her being as the blood that runs through her veins.
Her mother was a sculptress, painter, and well-respected political activist. Her cousin was a renowned New York City restaurateur and entrepreneur. Another cousin was a highly respected literary agent. And Karen is a pioneering art house filmmaker, a playwright, author, bioenergy medicine practitioner, creator of innovative immersive children’s books, a designer of literacy programs, and among the most well-read people I’ve ever met. So, with all that behind her, the 10 books that influenced her the most on her life journey are going to provide some fascinating fodder for this week’s conversation.
And if we’re lucky, I might be able to get her to reveal who her famous grandfather was, and tell us what she learned from some of the famous people in Hollywood she was close with along the way.
