Kelly Watt has a second life as a spiritual seeker studying Buddhism and Tibetan Yoga. She is an EFT International Tapping Instructor and a meditation teacher who has accomplished three pilgrimages. She is the author of The Weeping Degree: How Astrology Saved Me From Suicide – a raw and edgy collection of award-winning narrative poetry and flash prose. This work was inspired by the author’s own challenging astrological chart, a poemoir that explores issues of survivorship, destiny, and/or whether we can overcome our fate; nature versus nurture. These storytelling poems narrate the long-lasting effects of trauma in unofficial foster care, and linger in the liminal space between memory, flashback, imagination, and story, in fragments of experimental poetry, prose poems, flash, and micro-essays.
