How to Stay Healthy in a Chaotic World

There are many toxins, terrible foods, and more in the world that can play havoc with the mind, body, and spirit.

Here are some simple ways to stay healthy during chaotic times… no matter what’s happening in the world!

Time to Get Up – No matter what’s happening have a regular routine… in India the great healers have talked about our circadian rhythms for years. Get up at 6AM and to go to bed by 10 PM. The mind hates routine… but the body loves routine.

Rituals – Meditation, yoga, Qigong and many other forms of ritual rights help us stay grounded and allow us to be at peace. Meditation calms the mind, and it’s so powerful that it can switch off bad genes for disease, and switch on good genes and create health. Meditate for at least 30 minutes in the morning, and 30 minutes in the evening and it will do your mind/body good.

Exercise – The mind may not like exercise, but the body loves exercise. You don’t have to do anything elaborate – walking and swimming are great. Walking or swimming 5 miles a day will keep you fit!

What to Eat – Eat lots of organic fresh fruits and veggies and some grains, but stay away from wheat, spelt, and barley they have inflammatory qualities that cause problems.

Eat Simply – Eat because you need substance, not because you have anxiety or emotions playing havoc. Prepare simple foods with simple preparation… and pay homage to God every time you eat… it creates gratitude and gratitude does the body good.

Water – Filter your water, I recommend a reverse osmosis filter that will take out 99% of everything in your water. And they have portable reverse osmosis units for backpackers too.

Get Out Side – We need sunlight, sunlight interacts with areas of our brain to balance our hormonal system and create serotonin that makes us happy.

Keep Your Mind Occupied – We know that the mind and body are interwoven together… they cannot be separated. So be sure to keep busy doing something. Not just busy work but something that benefits all of mankind… be it gardening, helping others, or anything else you can think of… just keep it simple. Don’t allow your mind to dwell on negative things, keep a positive mind at all times… and that will pay off with good health down the line. Studies show that negativity brings about back pain, a lowered immune system, and disease… always look at the bright side of everything.

Stay Away from GMO Foods – Unless it says organic don’t eat it. Everything else is full of pesticides, herbicides, hormones, and more. All of these will harm… eat organic and natural.

Grow Your Own Food – Grow lots of fresh veggies and fruits if at all possible. Gardening not only creates food to eat it also helps with arthritis, back pain, and mental health… it seems to be important to get our hands dirty, and help mother earth as much as possible. Also grow some simple herbs that boost your immune system like garlic, avocado seeds, oregano, onions, and more… it’s important to keep your immune system up and going strong.

Grow Relationships – There is nothing like having close friends, friends you can tell your deepest darkest secrets too, thus taking a load off your mind and allowing your spirit to be free. People you can count on when the chips are down! People that will be there for you! And people that you share common interests with! All of this creates a better life and makes life easier to deal with.

Quality Time – For any relationship to grow we need quality time. Be it with your spouse, family, or friends, make sure to create time for your friends and family every week.

Let Go of Worry and Fear – Worry and fear never changed anything, and it expends lots of mental and physical energy that could be used for better things.

Pray Everyday – Perhaps some of you don’t pray, then meditate, whatever form of paying homage to God, the Universe, and the Tao you have… create time for God.

Do Something You Enjoy – No matter what’s happening in the world do something you enjoy every day. This is vitally important… don’t just sit around, get up, have fun no matter what’s happening.

Laugh – Even in the midsts of terrible times people find ways to laugh. Laugh at everything and know it could be worse. If we can laugh at our selves and what’s happening it boosts our immune system and allows us to be happy.

Love – This is absolutely important, a man or woman who scorns the world will truly be unhappy. But those give love without expectation of getting anything in return will be happy no matter what’s going on. And forgive, forget, and move on with life everyday… life is too short to be angry.

This is just a start… add some personal things that would make life better during hard times.
