Astrology Forecast May 2026

Astrology Forecast May 2026 reveals a month bracketed by emotional Full Moons, where the rapid-fire pace of spring gives way to a crucial waystation for securing personal value before the cosmic fireworks of July.

Astrology Forecast May 2026 – A Month of Bridges and Emotional Bookends

Listen to Astrologer Kathy Biehl discuss the Astrology Forecast May 2026.

May is a month of bridges. It takes us out of the Aries wildfires and across some stable ground, where we do warm-up exercises for the big events coming in July.

Moments of emotional culmination bracket the month, which begins and ends with Full Moons. In between our day-to-day cycles through several modes, as all the inner planets change signs and ping-pong us between comfort and curiosity.

Venus-Saturn Sextile and the Scorpio Full Moon

The fast pace of previous weeks gives way at the outset to a way station for securing something of personal value, as Venus sextiles Saturn on May 1.  The backdrop is intense to an extreme, with the Scorpio Full Moon coaxing desires, secrets, suspicions, and other beasties out of their hiding places and into view.

It may purge; it may flush; it may show how toxic and dangerous matters have been bubbling below the surface. However unpleasant, we’ve got the stuff to face it. Mercury makes the first sign change in the immediate aftermath of the Full Moon, from extreme Aries to raw Taurus. Thoughts and conversations morph from impulsive, aggressive, and nigh-on fearless to considering costs, practicalities, and the impact on quality of life.

Take advantage of those qualities and the concentration abilities they encourage. We haven’t had the bandwidth lately, and Mercury is in this mode for barely two weeks.

Mars-Jupiter Square and Mercury-Pluto Square

Hang on to it, especially when activity (and anger) mushrooms. Mars’ square to Jupiter on May 4 expands small steps into something much larger than intended. That’s great for enthusiasm, excitement, and physical exertion, but other types of passion can grow from sparks into raging fires as well. Protecting or fighting for something you love will be a theme, but so, unfortunately, could be conflicts escalating.

Watch for more Full Moon fallout to surface when Mercury squares Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto, on May 5. The impact forces out truths, lies, candor, and secrets. It supports facing unpleasantries, having verbal confrontations, and picking battles. Some matters, you may realize, are not worth the cost (in time, money, emotion, or energy).

Pluto Stations Retrograde

Whatever draws focus stands to linger. Pluto is stationing retrograde May 6, deepening and prolonging issues, events, and topics stirring now, including this week’s emo dramas, conversations, and disclosures. He’ll remain retrograde through the middle of October, so this journey of discovery is unavoidable.

Sun and Mercury Sextile Jupiter

Reward yourself on May 10 and 12, when the Sun and Mercury are in sextile to Jupiter. Their link opens pathways for nurturing, for emotional expression, and for indulging in creature comforts. Nail salons, ice cream,  doughnut and garden shops, bakeries, florists, and farmers’ markets should be seeing a lot of traffic. Pick your vehicle of pleasure and sink into it.

Mercury-Sun Conjunction and Taurus New Moon

Clarity about the practicalities of life comes when Mercury meets the Sun on May 14. This carries over into the Taurus New Moon on May 16, the first in seven years without Uranus disrupting the sign. We’re planting new seeds and laying the groundwork for very different goals than previously.

Mercury Enters Gemini: The Uranus Effect

His influence is in the wind, however. He’s waiting at the doorway when squirrel mode overtakes attention spans May 17, as Mercury lifts off into his airy home of Gemini for the rest of the month. The departure from Taurus is unmistakable on impact. Mercury and Uranus immediately team (for the first time in this sign since the 1940s) and electrify minds, messaging, media, and machines with the wildly unexpected.

Anytime Mercury is flying through Gemini, thinking is flexible and running along multiple tracks simultaneously. This particular jaunt promises to be unlike anything most of us have seen before. The road not taken is not the road not previously considered. Or possible. Ask to be shown another way to look at a situation; epiphanies will rain down.

Some of this week’s ahas and new thoughts will play a role in a few months. Your mind is getting a warm-up for the dance Uranus will be doing with the other outer planets in July.

Mars and Venus Change Signs: A Harmonious Partnership

No matter how far out things go, though, you’re not likely to fly to the far reaches of the universe…just yet.  Countervailing influences direct your attention to worldly existence, and probably in enjoyable ways.

On May 18, Mars leaves the Aries battlefield for the Taurus garden, while Venus drops her chatty, flirty Gemini ways for Cancer coziness. And they get along nicely until the middle of next month. (Their sextile is exact on May 19, but they’ll continue working in tandem.)

While their love languages may use different vocabularies, they do validate each other. Actions and desires are collaborating in compatible modes. Venus in Cancer wants emotional connection, wants to stay home and cook a nice meal, wants to cuddle, while Mars in Taurus is handy (literally) and motivated to deliver, tangibly, whatever his cosmic partner is craving.

The partnership is great for cultivating a garden, for producing physical creations, and for taking loving, nourishing, home-building action. (Paint! Sew! Craft! Spend time in the kitchen! Make the home front cozy!) When have you had time for any of that in the past few months? Play catch-up. Put some effort into making your home base more comfortable; settle in and enjoy it.

Mercury Sextile Neptune, Trine Pluto, and Sun Enters Gemini

Meanwhile, thoughts and communication channels continue warming up for July’s outer planet dance. Sink into your most comfy chair and let inspiration blossom on May 19. Mercury’s sextile to Neptune opens you to higher guidance and to life force that’ll awaken you to your mission, while the messenger god’s trine to Pluto that day brings focus, clarity, and profound understanding of power.

A new vision of reality – and of your life — follows. The Sun moves into Gemini on May 20, lighting moods and speeding the pace, and then has its own meeting with Uranus two days later, again for the first time in this sign since the 1940s. Who else are you? Who else could you be? The conjunction promises to jolt us all from stuck places and free us for – all together now – the energies coming in July.

Venus Runs the Outer Planet Gauntlet

Relationships, creativity, and values are undergoing their own warm-ups, as Venus runs the outer planet gauntlet from May 22 – 28. The track meet takes her to a square in Neptune on May 22. The guardians of love and inspiration are forcing higher potentials into earthly expressions – challenging us to be more compassionate and loving, and to infuse our connections, creations, and even money with ideals and nonworldly considerations.

Wrapping our heads around these concepts is not hard. Mercury’s sextile to Saturn that same day opens the possibility of that, and also encourages conversations to make them real.

Adjustments become necessary on May 23, when Venus’ inconjunct to Pluto exposes attractions, hidden liaisons, and secrets. Choices may be necessary. Unplugging may be necessary, particularly if what’s been kept out of public sight is unhealthy or damaging. If awareness does not immediately translate into action, push comes to shove on May 28, when Venus’ square to Saturn demands maturity, responsibility, and commitment.

Sun Sextile Neptune and Mars-Sun Contacts with Pluto

In the meantime, other components of daily life are going through their warm-ups for July as well.  Your personal mission and spiritual warrior drive open when the Sun sextiles Neptune on May 24. This contact has the potential to soften your will, grant yourself some compassion, and infuse your being with ideals and a higher purpose.

The experience and wielding of power surface dramatically on May 26, when Mars and the Sun both contact Pluto. The ruler of the netherworld is still at the degree of his retrograde station, still stirring secrets and primal impulses and power games below the surface and out of view.

Now we target some of them. Mars’ square to Pluto is a blow against the empire moment, spurring individual action against large-scale corruption, galvanizing collective action, demanding a reallocation of power, with money and resources very likely in the mix. There’s always a potential for violence and accidents when the god of war goes against the lord of death, but that intensity could go at the system and entrenched interests rather than show up as physical attacks.

And each of us is being outfitted to step into that fray, whatever form it takes. The Sun’s trine to Pluto strips away artifice and facilitates personal power, not one size fits all, but for each in our individual way. (Think: the Tin Man being buffed in preparation for his audience with the Wizard.)

Preparations for July and the Sagittarius Full Moon

By the month’s end, the key components in daily life have all been prepped for the changes locking in come July. Minds, information channels, and our sense of self have been opened up, enlightened, focused, and empowered. Our will, drive, and approach have come up against great forces and pushed to transform systems and empower our community and collective. Much of this time will make sense – and definitely prove to have been groundwork — by the time Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto firedance in July.

The first combined effect? Life feels lighter. More maneuverable. Possibly more optimistic as well. Expansive, indulgent Jupiter hosts the month’s last event, the Sagittarius Full Moon on May 31. It promises giddiness as release after so much change and adaptation. Dramas may be bigger and more philosophical, but we may have an increased ability to laugh at them. And probably a drive to celebrate, just because we can. And isn’t that reason enough?
