From Crow’s Feet to Joy Lines, A Face Reader’s Take on Healthy Skin

A Face Reader’s Take on Healthy Skin.

By Michelle Butt

In this modern age, people are always looking for the miracle cure. The thing to make them look younger, reduce wrinkles, reverse sun damage, clear up blemishes, etc. There are more products on the market and procedures in the doctors’ office than we can count, dedicated to skin care.

With November being healthy skin month, it may be fitting to talk about what our faces are really telling us, before we head to the drug store or the plastic surgeon.

As a professional Face Reader, I have come to know that every face tells a story. Every feature, wrinkle, blemish and scar has a message for us and the world about who we are inside, what our life experiences have been and our emotional state. My approach to skin care is: “What is this face telling me?” Not necessarily, “What can I fix or what has to be changed?”

In face reading, we look at wrinkles differently than the media does. When we see “crow’s feet,” we call them “joy lines.” Crow’s feet/Joy Lines are wrinkles we want to see on a face. To us, these aren’t caused by too much sun exposure or squinting, they are caused by laughter and joy, by living a life that has caused you to smile so much that you tell the world with the lines around your eyes how happiness is a part of who you are.

When we see blemishes or acne, we don’t automatically think about hormone imbalances or dietary changes, we think about the emotional state of the person. What is going on in someone’s life that is causing an internal emotional imbalance that is strong enough to get their attention when they look in the mirror? For example, when I see someone who has developed acne on their chin, I am compelled to understand what is going on in their lives that is draining their will or in what ways have they had to be extra tenacious lately? Normally, when we get to the emotional cause, the remedy is as much an emotional one as it is a physical one.

I am by no means, discounting skin care products or medical attention, but in my experience as a face reader, I have come to see that healthy skin begins and ends with healthy emotions. When we understand why our faces show what they show, we begin to understand ourselves at a deeper level.

So I urge you to take care of your skin in whichever way you choose, remembering that, often times, until you recognize the emotional causes for what you see in the mirror, no remedy will be permanent.
