How to Use Color Likes & Dislikes for Self-growth

Just like the universe and the angels use numbers, animals and music to get our attention, they also use the spiritual language of color to send us subtle yet powerful messages. How can our color likes have an effect on our lives?

When we come to understand that color is a divine method of communication and we learn to speak in this tongue, we become conscious of the colors that out of the blue appear in our lives (in the form of a sudden attraction to certain colors in clothes, décor, food, flowers). And then we know how to interpret their hidden meanings and are able to translate these colors into feelings, thoughts and beliefs – and ultimately life stages and life lessons.

Yes, the gods often use color attractions and rejections to draw our attention to the health and well-being of our body, heart, mind and soul. The color that we like and keep noticing at the moment in time gives us a good indication of the new energies (feelings, thoughts and beliefs) that we are inviting into our lives in order to grow and develop. We may not yet be consciously aware of wanting to allow these gifts, but the Universe is in fact preparing us for things to come.

On the other hand, the colors from which we stay away reveal much about the gifts that we are unable to access or which are hidden within the subconscious. It is important to also explore our color rejections as it can help us face our challenges and release the issues associated with them.

The following guide reveals what our color likes and dislikes can tell us:

Attitudes to Red

Attraction: If we notice red or are attracted to this strong, vibrant color we are comfortable in our physical body and we are energetic and brave. We know what we want from life and go for it. We are passionate and motivated. We may also have been through a tough time and are now ready to rise from the ashes and take the bull by the horns again!

Rejection: If we don’t like red, it shows a feeling of anger, defeat or frustration. It is hard to accept responsibility or we are obsessed with the material world. We also tend to be stubborn, manipulative or ruthless. Impatience and getting bogged down by small details are often a sign that we are stuck.

Attitudes to Orange

Attraction: If orange is our latest color crush, we are more practical, creative and want to go with the flow. Our feelings and thoughts are flexible, and we like to do things in a group. We are friendly and spontaneous, and we bounce back easily after disappointments.

Rejection: We lack an interest in life, and we are timid, shy and fearful. We may suffer from physical exhaustion or mental fatigue.

Attitudes to Yellow

Attraction: We want to take back our power and start trusting and following our gut feeling. We don’t take life and ourselves too seriously any longer. Learning and new ways of thinking become a priority. We feel cheerful and lively.

Rejection: When we cannot stand yellow, we reject our inner wisdom, are scared to take action, and set very high standards for ourselves and for others. We have unrealistic expectations, which lead to disappointment and self-doubt. Childhood patterns keep us from acting in our best interest.

Attitudes to Green

Attraction: We are opening our hearts: We become more kind, compassionate and generous. Our boundaries are clear and consistent, and we are comfortable with what we have and who we are. We don’t need anyone’s approval and we follow our heart when it comes to our dreams.

Rejection: Loneliness and being unforgiving are the two main feelings when rejecting green. We believe life is unfair and we don’t value ourselves and our lessons. The past cannot be forgotten and accepted.

Attitudes to Blue

Attraction: When, out of the blue, we are attracted to blue we want to start speaking our truth. We listen to our inner voice and to others, and we are comfortable stating our opinions. We are attracted to the finer things in life and enjoy reading poetry, going to the theater or ballet.

Rejection: To keep the peace, we don’t say much. Or we show a tendency towards conflict rather than peaceful communication. We feel that we are not being heard and we may suffer with confusion.

Attitudes to Indigo

Attraction: Our intuition becomes our best friend. If we are in an indigo stage, we know ourselves and what we value. We dream up wonderful ventures and put them into action through choice and discernment.

Rejection: We over-analyze everything and stubbornly refuse to listen to our sixth sense. We doubt our own abilities and find it difficult to verbalize our dreams. We tend to make excuses rather than take responsibility for ourselves.

Attitudes to Violet

Attraction: We are able to see the bigger picture. Strengthening our connection with Source, the Creator or God becomes part our daily routine. We seek spiritual guidance on important decisions and become sensitive to the needs of others.

Rejection: We are not grounded, aloof and probably have an inferiority complex. We want to control others, which leads to great sadness in relationships. And we get negative about life and our purpose.

Let’s do ourselves a favor and learn to speak the wonderful language of color! Our souls will be forever grateful.
