Remembering a Spiritual Luminary Debbie Ford

Debbie Ford 1955-2013

By Shelly Wilson

Debbie-FordThe lyrics from The Byrds song, “Turn, Turn, Turn (To Everything There is a Season)” are beginning to play in my mind as I am reflecting on the passing of beloved author and spiritual teacher Debbie Ford.

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn) And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die…

An influential and inspirational presence, Debbie’s courage to accept all aspects of herself offered each one of us the opportunity to overcome fear and ignite the flame of confidence within us as well as the ability to forgive ourselves. Her personal healing has transcended into assisting others with their own healing. As she has grown, so have we.

I learned of Debbie’s passing on Facebook when her sister, Arielle Ford, posted a beautiful and touching letter on Debbie’s fan page, which is also noted on the website debbieford.com:

My beautiful, brilliant and very brave sister Debbie made her transition last night into the waiting arms of her ancestors and guardian angels.

She continued by saying:

…If I had to choose just one word to describe her, I would say that first and foremost Debbie was a seeker. In her teens and twenties, she was seeking excitement, parties, wild adventure and of course shopping. In her thirties, she began seeking to understand the mind, body, spirit connection in order to heal herself of addiction…From her forties and beyond, she devoted herself to teaching and sharing her own powerful process of healing while always seeking new, deeper paths to wholeness….

As a spiritual being having a human life experience, Debbie made the conscious choice to share her life experiences with others to assist them on their own life journey. She recognized that each experience offered opportunities for learning and growth stating, “The evolution of one’s own soul is a process. It’s not a quick fix. It’s not a five day workshop. It’s a lifetime process where we let go, discover and then allow for futures to come into existence.”
