Saturn and Mercury Tag Team Retrograde in Water Signs

Saturn turned retrograde on February 18th at 11 degrees Scorpio. The ringed planet of structure, form, commitment, and discipline will be moving retrograde until early July, where he will station and then turn direct at 4 degrees Scorpio. When a planet goes retrograde, as Mercury will today at 19 degrees Pisces, that planet will cover ground it has already passed for review and re-working.
Both Saturn and Mercury are moving through water signs, focusing their energies in the emotional realm. Saturn in Scorpio encourages you to dig through your emotional patterns, looking carefully at your habitual responses and asking you to honestly access their usefulness at this time in your life. We often have created emotional response patterns as ways to cope with the experiences earlier in our lives.
For example… last night I caught myself interjecting humorous, monkey-like antics when I sensed that a situation was getting too serious for my own comfort level. I could see that that was a behavior I did all through my life to try to dissipate the emotional heaviness of my childhood family scenario. I no longer am in my early childhood and, in my present situation, I really am not responsible for lightening the group’s load. I could identify the coping pattern and now see that I can release that. Still I wouldn’t invite me to a funeral or a courtroom as I do tend to laugh inappropriately at those types of events – aware of the patterns or not – I wouldn’t trust me.
