Life is filled with distractions and just as those distractions can interfere with the efficient functioning of your mind, adding stress to your life, so too can they interfere with the Feng Shui of your space. There are distractions creating compromised Feng Shui lurking in the living and working spaces of most people. They are the “little things” that need fixing or adjusting or tossing that don’t get fixed or adjusted or tossed. The reason that they bother the Feng Shui of a space is threefold: 1) good Feng Shui requires that things be clean (no old energy building up), 2) in good repair (what is supposed to work, should work or its presence is unnecessary), and 3) pleasing to behold.
When things are dirty, they become energetically heavier. Feeling the greasy build-up of anything in a kitchen that hasn’t been cleaned recently actually causes the body to recoil slightly because ‘dirt’ anywhere near food is not usually conducive to the well-being of the body. That small response causes an energetic insult to the body and the Ego Process sometimes responds by judging you for bad housekeeping. None of this helps your inner Feng Shui, which of course rebounds right into the Feng Shui of your space.
Dust on surfaces and whatever you call the particles that fall out of the air in big cities gets a similar response from the body, particularly the lungs. Dust doesn’t look good either, dulling the natural shine of curtains and furniture, all the while quietly pointing out to your body that all that stuff is going into your lungs – which it is, and well before it lands on your furnishings. Your lungs, if they are healthy, are designed to deal with normal amounts of airborne particles, no problem, but the constant reminder of thin layers of dust plays heavily on the mind which excels at making mountains out of molehills, again disturbing your internal Feng Shui and potentially weakening your resistance because your mind has quite a bit to do with your physical well-being.
