Healing & Recovery – Day 28

30 Days to Healing and Recovery Day 28 by Dana Jacoviello

8. Give up a luxury. This can be so many things. I like this challenge because I have done this a couple of times and it made me appreciate what I had or have so much more. You become less materialistic and soon not even notice. I want it to be a big one. For example, give up your car for a week or few days or even one day. It doesn’t matter. See what it is like for people who don’t take things for granted. What would you do if you we no longer have cell phones or fancy televisions and gadgets? Life doesn’t suddenly end. We lived without them once before. In fact, I think life was better because when we worked for things we want because it was that much more exciting. We appreciated it more compared to just being able to go out a buy something or put it on credit. Another good one might be giving up using your credit cards. Use cash. Just see what it is like to humble yourself to the basics. I bet you notice you do just fine. There is always another answer or way. When I moved back to New York awhile back, I gave up my luxury SUV for the city. I didn’t need the expense when I was near so much transportation. It was hard, but I survived. I do what I have to do. Do I miss it? Of course! Again, we need to do this in our lives at some point. If tomorrow it was all taken away, you need to be able to life effectively.
