The New York City from decades ago is often recollected as a city full of greed, crime and despair, but for Tony Robbins, world-renowned speaker, author and peak performance strategist, his personal memory of the Big Apple is quite different.

Tony Robbins may have made it big, but he has never forgotten his humble beginnings. The kindness of a stranger during a childhood Thanksgiving inspired him to do the same in New York City. As the story goes, one year on Thanksgiving Day, Tony Robbins wanted to give away food in Harlem, but didn’t have a van to get there. In typical Tony Robbins fashion, he faced the challenge head on, and not only made it to Harlem, but to the South Bronx as well. Tony Robbins continues this yearly Thanksgiving tradition, and invites others to join in because, as he puts it, life’s really about giving, not just about getting.
