Dain Heer: Clearing the Way to Consciousness
Another favorite tool up Heer’s energetic sleeve is the clearing statement. Voicing the clearing statement, Heer says, is another way to make the mind let go of habitual thought patterns. The short form of it, which Heer repeats many times during the interview, is this: “Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, POD and POC, All 9, Shorts, Boys and Beyonds.” While Heer explains a bit about what the clearing statement stands for on the show, you can read the unabridged version at accessconsciousness.com.
The third key component to Heer’s approach is letting go of judgment—especially self-judgment. Judgment is a killer, Heer says, and is never one to mince his words. A master of incisive questions, another favorite line of self-inquiry Heer suggests pursuing is this: “What judgment do I have of me, that if I didn’t have it, would allow me to be totally free?
While many of Heer’s claims, as Garr points out, are rather huge, there is much to learn from his reflective approach to actualization. Everything external is a reflection of the internal. Even sickness, Heer says, mirrors an inner process that can be ameliorated by direct inquiry. His favorite way to disarm illness is by asking yourself what you are sick of. And then, Heer suggests, take it one step further: Ask yourself are you willing to let this go?
If you can suspend disbelief, you will find a few nuggets of gold in this interview. It’s powerful—and a bit scary— to go from contraction to expansion but with Heer as a guide it seems like the road best traveled. He’s an able leader, pointing out breaks in the clouds and glimpses of our inner rainbows.
