By Paul Haider
Peppermint can be found almost every where, in candy canes, specialty coffees, and numerous specialty foods, and peppermint has many healing qualities.
Peppermint is a very strong antioxidant that helps to prevent debilitating diseases such as cardiovascular disease, strokes, and other diseases caused by free radicals, plus it also helps slow the aging process. Peppermint oil contains flavonoids such as hesperidim, eriocitrin, and luterolin which are the main phenolic compounds at work as powerful antioxidants.
Peppermint helps get rid of stress and boosts up your immune system. Plus peppermint helps with the symptoms of flues, colds, and sinus problems, and even fever, coughs, sore throats, by fighting of bacterial and viral invaders… so make sure you have peppermint around at all times just in case you feel sick.
Peppermint is great for the liver helping to rejuvenate and sooth away gallbladder problems and even dissolve gallbladder stones (Peppermint was shown in clinical studies to be the best over the counter treatment for gallbladder stones).
Peppermint is great for the GI tract helping with diarrhea, gas, constipation, heartburn, nausea, motion sickness, and helps with colic in babies too, it seems to relax the muscles of the GI tract getting rid of spasms(In Germany Peppermint is legally use by doctors for GI problems) and also works for IBS and diverticulitis(there have been many clinical studies showing that peppermint works well for IBS)… peppermint is also a good appetite suppressant.
Peppermint contains A, B, and C vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium, and Omega 3 oils for lowering cholesterol.
