How Psychic Are You?

psychic_OMTimes

We are all born with psychic ability. It’s quite natural. Some people call it ‘intuition,’ while others prefer to say they’re ‘extra sensitive.’ As a soul, we have what I like to refer to as our ‘soul senses.’ In other words, it’s when people just feel when something’s right or wrong.

It’s not just limited to feeling, as some people may see images, while others will trust that little voice they hear inside their mind. This natural soul ability is not purely limited to those transcended masters, or to people who have devoted a lifetime of studying and practicing meditation. It’s not about fortune telling, crystal balls, or predicting the future – it’s one of the most natural resources that you can tap into at almost any time!

To be intuitive or psychic is not just something we possess. It’s not like a piece of software you can just download – it’s more a way of being.

Put simply, the word psychic is from the Greek word psychos, meaning “of the soul.” By definition, it means that as spiritual beings, we are able to access, receive, and transmit information that reaches beyond our physical body and our natural five senses.

We’re using these special abilities all the time, but most of the time, many of us don’t even know we’re tapping into this amazing resource. Let me show you what I mean. Take a short break and just ask yourself these basic questions:

~ Have you ever just thought of someone, only to run into them later that day?

~ Can you feel the mood of someone even before you meet them?

~ Have you ever had a hunch that you didn’t follow and regretted it later because it was correct?

~ Have you ever known the outcome of a situation or an event before it happens?

~ Can you walk into a room and instantly tell what the atmosphere is like?

~ Do coincidences and synchronicities keep appearing in your life?

If you have answered YES to some of these questions, then it’s important to realize that these are just a few examples of what being intuitive or psychic is all about. It’s a sense of an inner-awareness. Being psychic or intuitive is quite natural, and can be a wonderful resource of information to help you in all areas of your life, from work and relationships, to feeling your loved ones presence who has passed. You can even use it to connect to nature, or for helping you enhance your creative abilities. There is no limit to how much this natural ability can assist you here and now!

John’s Lesson

You can benefit from all of these and more by using and strengthening your psychic ability. The one aspect most people have an issue with, is TRUST. Have faith in yourself in that you’re entitled to live psychically, so that you can see yourself and the world in a way you never thought possible. Let yourself experiment and play like a child when it comes to your abilities. As children, we were born with a wonderful capacity to play. You had these abilities once, and unbelievably, they never left. I just encourage you to think back, to remember.

A good thing to do is simply try to use your psychic ability every day. By using it you’ll make it stronger, and soon you will understand how your individual ability works or functions.

Some simple suggestions you can try as part of your development are:

~ Ask yourself: “How many emails will I receive today?” or, “What will my boss be wearing today?”

~ When the phone rings, see if you can guess who’s on the other end before you pick it up.

~ When receiving utility bills, try to guess the amount before you open the envelope.

~ If you work in an office building, try to guess which elevator door will open first.

~ If you feel compelled to drive a different way home just for a change – then go for it!

~ If there is someone you are drawn to, who you’ve never met – then be brave and say hello!

~ If you are feeling confident, see if you can get a word or two from tomorrows’ newspaper headlines.

You can practice these and make up your own. Give it a try – you might just surprise yourself!

You may want to write down your experiences in a journal. Once again, you have to use your abilities to awaken them, and let them help to guide you in your life. After all, we have everything we need to find the answers right inside our intuitive psychic selves.

  • So this is my problem….

~ Have you ever just thought of someone, only to run into them later that day?
Yes…. but I’ve also thought of someone and they didn’t show up that day. This probably happens more often than the former.

~ Can you feel the mood of someone even before you meet them?
Sometimes I think I know, but then sometimes I’m wrong. Sometimes I’m right.

~ Have you ever had a hunch that you didn’t follow and regretted it later because it was correct?
Yes! But I also remember times where that hunch turned out to be wrong, whether I followed it or not.

~ Have you ever known the outcome of a situation or an event before it happens?
Sort of, but this is the same thing: Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong. How do you tell the difference between intuition/psychic impressions and thoughts based on preconceptions or personal biases not connected with non-mundane knowledge?

~ Can you walk into a room and instantly tell what the atmosphere is like?
Often, but I think there are non-verbal cues being given off. I read somewhere that much of human communication is actually non-verbal.

It’s easy to feel psychic if you don’t remember all of the times you were wrong. But I remember them. And if one is right sometimes and wrong sometimes, it doesn’t seem to me like this is any more helpful than flipping a coin. If you assign a positive outcome to heads, a negative outcome to tails, and a neutral outcome to accidentally dropping a coin, you’ll probably get it right about a third to half of the time – but I don’t assign any supernatural powers to the coin. It’s more like: There are only three possible outcomes to the flip and three outcomes to the situation; they’re going to line-up quite a bit of the time… but that isn’t really predictive, is it?

To be helpful, tell us how you sort out real psychic impressions from random thoughts (OTHER than by outcome, of course!). I don’t have any answers for that, sadly. From my experience, the coin flip would be as good as my intuition.
