Where the Bleep Did I Go?

Where the Bleep Did I Go?

By Leigh Cohen Wyatt

It was my daughter’s Sweet Sixteen Birthday; I had a banner made, a cake, balloons and presents, she walked in from her school day and said to me, “Mom you have no life, I want to live with Dad.” After a few exchanges of verbiage that no one even in another city let alone my house should hear, she left. I was devastated, hurt and angered by how my child, whom I bore, spoke to me.

After all the crying and self-loathing, I woke up and realized that she was right. My life thus far had been all about my children, feeding them, housing them, clothing them, schooling them, schlepping them to dance class, soccer practice, going to every soccer game, dance recital, and mock trial competition. I pushed the pause button on my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love and adore my children and would do it all again; however, I wouldn’t forget about me.

The lesson took me 19 years to figure out.  That which came out of the ‘mouths of babes’ made me stand up and say, “Hey, I am important too.”  How many of us have felt the loneliness of motherhood and fatherhood? How many have felt the emptiness of doing everything for our children, feeling no appreciation, no respect, no admiration; ladies and gents you feeling my pain yet? I know you relate to the mirror.

Look into the reflection and see and listen to get past the pain and hurt and remember these are truly seeds that have been planted to create thought. The ideas that are placed in our subconscious transforming into our conscious to bring forth awareness helping to change our mental patterns and rising up to meet who we are as human beings.

What scares you? What frustrates you? It’s all integrated. We start at point A and get to point B.  How do we fill in the intersections and stop signs? Answer all the pertinent questions so you can dive into what’s holding you back.

I had a path. It didn’t start with a perfect, happy life. I don’t know if that comes as a surprise or not. Many people who are intuitive and intelligent have been through some life trauma and yes, the consequences of poor decisions, or the decision to stay in a situation that was not ever going to get better. How can someone who arrived at their destination on an easy shortcut help someone else navigate the path? Maybe no one gets a shortcut. All the people you think look like the stepped off an ad for a luxury car or a planned living community could have a craggy path behind them. We don’t always know.

All you can really concentrate on is your own life, your own heart, your own barriers. The only battle you can fight is the one against the issues that are holding you back.

So much is seen in the feeling of things, yet, when we listen deeper…we come to know.  You have the opportunity to make each day your masterpiece.  Breathe in fresh air, remember timeless moments of calm, where truth & beauty are in line with positive energy and rushing moments of laughter, embedded within our memories… just breathe & be.

When your soul greets sadness, anger, depression or anxiety in others, embrace it and thank the Universe for the experience to calm down and love one another. This is a great opportunity for you as an individual. Enjoy the whole process.

Today when you have a moment, try this meditation: link your heart mentally up through the throat, forehead and the top of your head to your favorite angel or divine being. Ask with appreciation for that being to help you to send healing to yourself and others, then like a flashlight from your heart send out a beam of the light from that angel to all those who are bringing/creating peace in the world.

When I have internal peace, it flows forth to buoy those around me.

When you interrupt life moving forward, your process won’t meet its desired outcome.

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
~ Alan Alda

When we succumb to negativity, we lose our positive movement forward. With that said, keep the circle of light around you, as it fills your spirit with love and hope.
